Komy Designs New Mirror for Aircraft Overhead Stowage Bins: Triple Surface Area But Weighs Same!
- To Be First Installed on Airbus A320neo -
KAWAGUCHI, Japan, Aug. 30, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- A new KomyMirror model, developed by Komy Co., Ltd., will be first installed in a new type of overhead stowage bins on the Airbus A320neo.
Komy first released its innovative KomyMirror -- the first mirror in the world to provide a wide-angle view despite being flat -- in 1997. Since then, the company has shipped 350,000 KomyMirrors for installation on aircraft. The new KomyMirror (patent pending) boasts three times the surface area of the conventional KomyMirror model while still weighing almost exactly the same.
While pursuing an ideal mirror for users of overhead stowage bins, Komy has also taken up the challenge of meeting Airbus's lightness requirements. The result is that the company has succeeded in developing a mirror that is thin enough even to be installed on curved surfaces; in other words, the form of KomyMirror will satisfy both users and the aircraft manufacturer.
The KomyMirror is installed as standard equipment on many new aircraft from the world's two largest aircraft manufacturers, Airbus and Boeing, and is used by more than 100 airlines around the world.
KomyMirror: This mirror, developed by Komy Co., Ltd., is the first in the world to provide a wide-angle view despite being flat. The KomyMirror is not only used in parking lots but in a wide range of other applications, such as for checking behind ATMs or station ticket machines, or to help people avoid walking into another person at junctions or turns in corridors.
