The Problem At Hand
During the operation of Oil Sands mining or Shale drilling, a byproduct is created that is a mixture of the extracted oil or gas and the water that is used in this process. This byproduct, often known as tailings or produced water, has come under environmental scrutiny and governmental regulations. This produced water has contributed to lack of water resources in many areas, and the need for better water management in the industry is a must. Komax Systems has that answer for tailings ponds, produced water, shale play management and beyond.
"For the past four decades, our custom mixing-by-design solutions have extended across industry lines, including to the oil and gas industries and the water and waste treatment industries. We offer products that are the economical solution to water management in the industry, and helping others learn more about our products means an efficient outcome for everyone involved," said Sameer Kshirsagar/Senior Applications Specialist.
A History of Success
With forty years in the business, Komax Systems is hardly the new kid on the block, and their results have continued to speak for themselves. In 2009, Komax Systems created a way to speed up the reclamation process of tailings ponds with their Hi-Pass Produced Water Mixers before Directive 074 from the ERCB had been put in place in the Oil Sands Industries.
"Our past work in the industry has meant coming up with creative solutions, even in difficult situations like Tailings Ponds. We simply work to come up with the right design, and once we do, the result is a lower carbon footprint along with serious cost savings," said Nolan Smith/Senior Applications Specialists.
