Kognitio Signs Deal With GroupM To Build Innovative Infrastructure To Match and Analyze Media Monitoring Data at Local, Regional and Global Levels
Leading media investment company chooses Kognitio for its experience and expertise in building high value BI and data warehousing environments
LAS VEGAS, Feb. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Kognitio®, a leading global provider of business intelligence (BI) and data warehousing solutions, today announced that it has closed the first phase of a global agreement with GroupM, a division of WPP. Operating out of 81 countries, GroupM is the leading media investment management company in the world and the stewards of nearly one-third of all global advertising spend. The announcement was made at the TDWI World Conference and Executive Summit in Las Vegas, where Kognitio is a sponsor.
Under terms of the agreement, Kognitio and GroupM will build an analytical environment that will provide a global facility to match and monitor advertising placement. Subsequent phases will see the matching, monitoring and analytical environment deployed across GroupM's worldwide operations, in more than 80 countries. Information from these local operations will then be fed into multiple regional environments, and ultimately into one centralized database at the corporate level, managing a global view of their operations. When fully deployed, this system will match, measure and monitor almost one-third of the world's advertising spend, across all media outlets in countries around the globe.
Supported and guided by senior GroupM management, the project was brought about due to the recognized need for local, regional and global consolidated information for analysis & decision-making. To that end, GroupM decided on a pragmatic approach to engage with a partner to build a robust and high performance solution that will enable and support a globally integrated information framework. The initial stages of the project will see the creation of local and multi-national data warehouses as well as business intelligence environments and application services for these warehouses. The project will also include the usage and deployment of WX2 , Kognitio's high-speed in-memory database that is optimized for large-scale data analytics.
Kognitio beat out several competitors in a head-to-head proof-of-concept comparison, said John Donnarumma, GroupM's Chief Information Officer. "Kognitio won the deal because its people clearly were able to better understand our vision for the implementation and work with us to achieve it. It was crucial that we chose the right partner, one that has the experience, expertise, track record, capabilities and desire to make our project a success. Kognitio is that partner."
Kognitio officials noted its agreement with GroupM is poised to rapidly become the largest contract in the company's history. "We are pleased by GroupM's recognition that the rapid analysis of data from multiple locations has taken on such an important role in its corporate mission," said John K. Thompson, Kognitio's Chief Executive Officer for North American operations. "Furthermore, we are proud of GroupM's recognition of our people, their expertise and experience, as well as our robust analytical database technology."
