Kobo eReading App Now Available For BlackBerry 10 Smartphones
Kobo's free, top-ranked eReading application brings more than 3.5 million books, with its superior, customizable reading experience, to BlackBerry 10 smartphone customers
TORONTO, July 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Kobo, a global leader in eReading, today announced that its free, award-winning eReading application is available for BlackBerry® Z10 and BlackBerry® Q10 smartphone customers. The app will enable Readers on-the-go to carry, browse and shop the more than 3.5-million books sold on Kobo's eBookstore, as well as the ability to automatically sync their library across any device they own.
"The Kobo app creates the ideal reading experience for BlackBerry smartphone customers who want to be able to consume books wherever they are and whenever they want," said Wayne White, EVP of Devices, Kobo. "Readers will be able to manage their library and pick up right where they left off, all on their smartphone."
For the past three years, Kobo and BlackBerry® have successfully developed eReading apps for BlackBerry customers. Kobo's eReading app enables Readers to easily organize their library and create custom bookshelves, search within a book, highlight text and take notes within the eBook experience, and rate and review books in addition to checking out what other Readers have to say.
BlackBerry 10 smartphone customers who download the Kobo app will receive Forbes.com blogger Jessica Hagy's How to be Interesting After you Graduate. After Hagy's "How to be Interesting" post on Forbes.com went viral, attracting more than 1.4 million viewers, Hagy captured her ideas in this quirky book about how to stand out from the crowd. The book, exclusive to Kobo, will be automatically loaded to a customer's account upon download of the Kobo app.
Customers will also enjoy one of the newest Keep Moving Projects, Neil Gaiman's A Calendar Of Tales, through the Kobo eReading app for free on BlackBerry 10.
The Kobo application includes:
- Browse and shop more than 3.5 million eBooks
- Automatically sync your library across all of your devices, picking up where you left off
- Customize your reading experience with font styles and a day/night mode option
- Reading Life™ allows you to track your reading habits over time with personal stats and earn awards for reading
- Sharing with friends on Facebook
"BlackBerry 10 is designed to enable customers to access and enjoy content in a way that's fast and convenient," said Martyn Mallick, VP of Global Alliances and Business Development at BlackBerry. "The Kobo app further supports the BlackBerry 10 customer experience by connecting people to their content wherever they are and we are excited to work with Kobo to bring their eReading app to BlackBerry 10 customers."
