Kirk Nielsen Joins Jviation as the Salt Lake City Office Manager

SALT LAKE CITY, Sept. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Kirk Nielsen, PE joins Jviation, Inc., a aviation-focused planning and engineering consulting firm, as the Salt Lake City Office Manager.  As Office Manager, Nielsen will support Jviation's customers with their airport and community goals, and be responsible for enhancing the customer service and responsiveness to Jviation's Utah clients.

Nielsen brings 17 years of experience managing complex airport projects and programs. Previously with the Utah Department of Transportation's Division of Aeronautics, Nielsen served as Program Manager and Aeronautical Planner supervising airport development throughout the State from 2003 to August 2012.   As the Program Manager, Nielsen was responsible for strategically developing, implementing and maintaining Utah's Air Transportation System.  He worked closely with airport managers and public officials in developing airports to meet the local communities' and state's needs.  He led Utah's efforts in aviation planning, project prioritization and Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) development. Through his efforts, Nielsen was able to secure funding for the development of a state system of airports that fits within the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) regional airport system plan.  Prior to 2003, Nielsen worked as a rotational engineer, field engineer, design engineer and a design squad leader within the Utah Department of Transportation's organization.

Nielsen brings a strong working relationship with the FAA, local airport stakeholders and the aviation community. He is actively involved in the Utah Airport Operators Association (UAOA), serving as a board member for the last nine years. With his extensive aviation project management and planning background and his knowledge of the Utah Aviation System, Nielsen is a valuable asset in the development of local, state and regional air transportation infrastructure.

Nielsen holds a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and a master's degree in Business Administration from Utah State University. He is a private pilot and a registered professional engineer in Utah.
