The Grand Prize winner was Mark Nehrenz of Norman, Okla. Mark is a visual storyteller who has chronicled his travels to Africa, including trips to Kenya documenting the stories of orphans affected by HIV/AIDS. For the contest, Mark created a video about the need for a Kingston SSDNow solid-state drive in his travels which often take him through rugged terrain. The durability of a Kingston SSD would help prevent the loss of footage he has experienced with hard-disk drives. For his efforts, Mark was award first place and received the grand prize of $7,500.
Anderson Nichols of Avon, Conn., won second place and $5,000 for a video that takes a whimsical look at daily life events that are too slow and can only be sped up with SSD technology. The third place winner was Joseph Robba of Charlotte, N.C., who won $5,000 for creating an animated video of the ruggedness of SSDs in the wild. Thirteen other winners from around the United States each won $100 for their winning entries.
"We had a lot of fun watching all of the videos and are very appreciative of the efforts from all the contestants," said Ariel Perez, SSD business manager, Kingston. "Boosting PC performance and the durability of SSDs were common themes among all of the entries. These are definitely a couple of the key factors that Kingston SSDs bring to the table as system upgrades and we're happy to learn that more consumers are aware of these benefits now."
