Kinecta Board Chair Darryl F. Johnson Elected To Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors
First Board Member to represent a Credit Union
MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif., Feb. 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Kinecta Federal Credit Union's Chairman of the Board, Darryl F. Johnson, has been elected to serve as a Board Member for the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce. Johnson joins this prestigious and diverse group as its first credit union representative.

Governed by a 140-member Board of Directors, the L.A. Area Chamber works to shape the region through its strategic initiatives and advocacy efforts surrounding key issues facing Southern California.

Johnson, a retired aerospace executive, currently serves as Chairman of the Board at Kinecta Federal Credit Union. "I look forward to serving on the Board of the L.A. Area Chamber of Commerce, where I can contribute to enhancing the region economically and culturally," said Johnson. "My ties are strong to Los Angeles and its businesses, schools and communities. Having the opportunity to give back in this way is an honor."
Prior to retiring, Johnson held many leadership positions at Raytheon Systems Company (formerly Hughes Aircraft Company), including Director of Group Administration and Services and executive in charge of Enterprise Services.
Born in Los Angeles to a military family, Johnson attended 16 different schools all over the world. He served with the U.S. Army and is a retired Colonel in the Army Reserves, formally attached to the 7th Special Forces Group, Ft. Bragg, N.C. He received a master's degree in Public Administration from Golden State University in San Francisco and earned his bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of California at Los Angeles.
Active in the community, Johnson has served as President of the Hughes Black Professional Forum, Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Girl Scouts of America, Long Beach, Calif., Board Member of the African-American Unity Center of the Brotherhood Crusade of Los Angeles, and company Team Member for the United Way. He is active with the University of California at Los Angeles as former Chair of the Chancellor's Cabinet, former Chair of the UCLA Fund, Board Member of the UCLA Foundation, Member of the UCLA Board of Governors, Member of the UCLA Hall of Fame Committee, the Tri-Mentor Program, and was guest speaker to UCLA graduating seniors in 1990. Johnson is also involved with the Youth Motivation Task Force, Fulfillment Fund, Junior Achievement Program and the Special Olympics. In his spare time, he officiates college and high school football and basketball and is an avid golfer.
