Kindness and Compassion: Las Vegas company helps residents in need

LAS VEGAS, March 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Taking care of a loved one with dementia is a hard and stressful task alone, but when you lose heat in your home and don't have the money to fix it, the caregiving gets all the more challenging.

That's exactly the situation Las Vegas resident Joe Leonardo found himself in. He has been taking care of his 84-year-old father when his HVAC system went out leaving them without heat during recent freezing nights.

Unable to work due to an infection that took his eye and leg, Leonardo couldn't afford a replacement unit and faced an unknown future. However, when the Las Vegas-based Goettl Air Conditioning team heard of his situation, they quickly rallied and installed a new unit last week.

The complete job, installed by Goettl Air Conditioning and with a unit donated by Goodman Air Conditioning & Heating, is estimated to be valued at $10,000.

For his part, Leonardo was blow-away by the compassion and donation that helped him and his father have at least one less thing to worry about. "When I learned Goettl was donating an air conditioner for my dad and I, and I couldn't believe it. It's the best thing that's happened to me in a very long time," said Joe Leonardo. "We know it's going to be a hot summer and you can't live in Vegas without air conditioning, so this donation is going to make a huge impact on our lives. If it wasn't for Goettl, we'd be freezing now and sweating during the summertime."
