CORINTH, Miss., May 19 /PRNewswire/ --
WHO/WHAT: |
To commemorate more than 25 years in Corinth, Miss., Kimberly-Clark Mill Manager R. Martin Massey will present a $42,000 check to the Corinth High School Environmental Club. The contribution will support the "The Green Way Project" -- a multi-pronged initiative developed by students, who will assist in planning and maintaining new "Green Way" outdoor classrooms and beautification on school grounds, participate with teachers in environmental education workshops by Project Learning Tree, and expand existing educational efforts and programs to increase recycling at the Corinth Mill and in the community. Students presently visit the Mill regularly to teach recycling concepts and collect cans as part of Honors Diploma community service and Environmental Club activities. Keep Corinth-Alcorn Beautiful will also partner with the project, consulting on landscape design. Student officers of the nearly 100-member Environmental Club, wearing Kimberly-Clark "Green Patrol" T-Shirts, will accept an oversized check from Massey and will be joined by Andrea Rose, Director of Keep Corinth-Alcorn Beautiful, and Preston Padgett, a local Project Learning Tree training facilitator, in planting a tree that will symbolize the "Green Way" project. Speakers will include: teacher Greta Massey, who founded the Environmental Club in 2007-08 and serves as the Faculty Sponsor; Corinth High School Principal Russ Elam; and Corinth School District Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lee Childress. |
