Kim Freedman Receives ICF 2010 President's Award
Leadership Coach honored for her work within ICF and coaching industry
LEXINGTON, Ky., Nov. 16, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Leadership Coach Kim Freedman of Atlanta, Georgia, USA was honored with the International Coach Federation (ICF) President's Award during the 2010 ICF Annual International Conference in Fort Worth, Texas, USA. Each year, the ICF President selects an individual or organization to receive the President's Award, honoring great contributions to the field of coaching and the ICF.
"There are so many coaches out there who are doing such wonderful things in their communities. So many lives are enriched because of their work," said ICF President and Master Certified Coach Giovanna D'Alessio.
An active member of the Georgia Coach Association (GCA), a local ICF Chapter, since 2006, Freedman currently serves as president of the chapter and has participated on the chapter board for several years. Serving as an example of success to other ICF Chapters, GCA currently has over 230 members, holds regular monthly meetings offering educational opportunities to local coaches and is actively engaged in promoting the benefits of professional coaching in Atlanta through its local Prism Award program.
Over the past 30 years, Freedman has worked in many roles -- each focusing on the personal success of others in some fashion -- including as a registered nurse, business operations manager, project manager, human resources director and corporate trainer. Currently she works as a Leadership/Executive Coach in the Information Technology industry, primarily with clients in leadership roles at EDS, Sapient, and ACS.
Other honors presented at the ICF Conference included ICF International Prism Awards to biotech industry leader Genentech, acquired by the Roche Group in March 2009, and Norway's largest dairy company the TINE Group, as well as ICF Chapter Awards to ICF Argentina, ICF France, ICF Greater Richmond Chapter, ICF Los Angeles and ICF Turkey.
ICF defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. Coaching is a distinct service and differs greatly from therapy, consulting, mentoring or training. Individuals who engage in a coaching relationship can expect to experience fresh perspectives on personal challenges and opportunities, enhanced thinking and decision-making skills, enhanced interpersonal effectiveness, and increased confidence in carrying out their chosen work and life roles.
The International Coach Federation is the leading global organization for coaches, with over 16,000 members in more than 100 countries, dedicated to advancing the coaching profession by setting high ethical standards, providing independent certification, and building a worldwide network of credentialed coaches. The ICF is the only organization that awards a global credential which is currently held by more than 6,800 coaches worldwide.
