KidsPeace-supported websites TeenCentral.Net, ParentCentral.Net win Web Health Awards
OREFIELD, Pa., June 13, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Two websites supported by KidsPeace have been selected as winners in the 14th annual Web Health Awards. This competition, held twice each year, recognizes the nation's best digital health resources.
TeenCentral.Net received a bronze award in the Interactive Content/Rich Media division for the Anti-Bullying League. This new section of the site, which is also available through sister site ParentCentral.Net, was made possible through a grant from Verizon Wireless. The Anti-Bullying League addresses the dangers of bullying while giving teens and parents a place to turn for help and understanding.
ParentCentral.Net received a general award recognizing it as a web-based resource. For a complete list of winners, please visit: http://bit.ly/LAOoux.
"There is a tremendous need to make children, teens and parents aware of what bullying is and how it affects everyone involved," says Julius Licata, Director of TeenCentral.Net and ParentCentral.Net. "It can be devastating for a person of any age to be the butt of jokes or harassed because they are different or not as popular as others. It can scar a person and make their lives unbearable. We have to be more aware of the horrors of this anti-social behavior and we must help stop this dangerous and vicious behavior."
TeenCentral.Net and ParentCentral.Net are free, anonymous websites where teenagers and parents can log on and get professional guidance on issues ranging from bullying to drugs and alcohol to stress. Within 24 hours of posting a question, members receive answers from trained counselors and professionals.
