Kids' Streaming Service Magicflix Raises over $500,000 Seed Round from Top Angels

SEATTLE, March 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Magicflix, the curated video streaming service for kids that offers families a safe alternative to the uncertainties of internet-available video has raised over $500,000. The round includes notable investments from Geoff Entress and Andrew Wright.

Launched in November 2014, in just a few months Magicflix, a Techstars Seattle startup, has already gained a loyal following among tech-savvy parents.

Their library of popular, kid-friendly videos is available by subscription only, so there are no ads, and no risk of kids accidentally clicking away to inappropriate content. It also features educational content from around the world.

MagicFlix is poaching families away from sites like Netflix and YouTube for three reasons: Its closed environment allows kids to watch their favorite videos without the risks of being on the internet; It offers parents the ability to create their own playlists of YouTube content; and it offers a completely ad-free environment. So busy parents can hand their kids a tablet or a smartphone, tap open Magicflix, and feel confident about what their kids will and will not be exposed to.
