KiDS Of NYU Langone 2017 Springfling Gala Celebrates Nearly $7.5 Million
More Than 325 Guests Honor Pradeep N. Mally, MD
NEW YORK, April 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- NYU Langone Medical Center held its 26th annual KiDS of NYU Langone Springfling Gala on the evening of April 27, 2017, at The Plaza Hotel. This year's event honored Pradeep Mally, MD, associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics, director of the Division of Neonatology, and director of the Perinatal and Neonatal Medicine Fellowship Program at Hassenfeld Children's Hospital of New York at NYU Langone. NASCAR chairman and CEO Brian France and Amy France attended on behalf of The NASCAR Foundation, this year's corporate honoree.
In 2016, The NASCAR Foundation donated $1 million to NYU Langone, as part of a multiyear partnership to benefit hospitalized children. Through this partnership, The NASCAR Foundation has helped to further enhance the Child Life Program at the Hassenfeld Children's Hospital.
"NYU Langone has the absolute best experts in children's services anyone could ask for, and we are excited tonight to celebrate a truly exceptional leader Dr. Pradeep Mally for his unwavering commitment and dedication to providing the highest level of pediatric care to our patients," said Robert I. Grossman, MD, Dean and CEO of NYU Langone. "I'm speaking not as the Dean and CEO, but as the grandfather of newborn twins who were just delivered here. The outstanding care they received from our NICU team is the same outstanding care we provide to countless children and families every day."
Dr. Mally addressed a crowd of more than 325 attendees, thanking KiDS of NYU Langone for their critical role in putting pediatric services front and center. The KiDS of NYU Langone Foundation's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), part of Hassenfeld Children's Hospital, provides the highest level of support for the smallest infants and those with medical conditions that require advanced medical care. This commitment to infant care has earned NYU Langone a classification as a Level IV designated regional perinatal center, which means it meets the highest standards for infant care as defined by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Set to open in 2018 within the Kimmel Pavilion, Hassenfeld Children's Hospital's new dedicated pediatric inpatient facility will offer children and families a place to receive world-class medical care that was designed with their unique needs and perspectives in mind. The Hassenfeld Children's Hospital name will continue to encompass NYU Langone's children's programs and services across all locations, including inpatient care, the KiDS Emergency Department, and all ambulatory services. Most pediatric inpatient care, as well as outpatient procedures and perioperative services, will be provided in the new children's hospital which will have its own entrance and lobby, as well as enhanced security features to give parents extra peace of mind.
At 830,000 square feet, the Helen L. and Martin S. Kimmel Pavilion will have 374 beds and 11 floors devoted to inpatient care. The same structure will also be home to the new Hassenfeld Children's Hospital inpatient facility, a "hospital within a hospital," with a separate entrance and multiple floors dedicated to the unique needs of young patients and their families.
The Springfling Gala celebrated nearly $7.5 million including gala proceeds, and generosity from the KiDS of NYU and NASCAR Foundations, to enhance clinical and supportive care for children at Hassenfeld Children's Hospital, foster research into childhood illnesses, and promote an atmosphere that is sensitive to the unique needs of children and families. Over the past 26 years, KiDS of NYU Langone has funded more than 250 children's services programs and projects across NYU Langone.
Guests in attendance included Susan Block Casdin and Alex Casdin; Elisabeth J. Cohen, MD; Grace and Jack Dayan; Trudy Elbaum Gottesman and Robert Gottesman; Ken Langone; Stephen Mack; Shyamli Milam; Abigail Scheuer; Jonathan Schulman; Jill and Ronald Sedley; Randi and Boaz Sidikaro; Alice Tisch; Lacey Tisch; and Susi and Peter Wunsch.
