TORONTO, June 9, 2015 /CNW/ - More than 11,000 participants from 40 communities across Canada walked in solidarity to support Kids Help Phone at the 14th annual Walk so Kids Can Talk presented by BMO on May 3.
From Vancouver to St. John's, kids, adults, families, schools, community organizations and sponsors came together to raise $3.1 million for kids' emotional health and well-being.
Kids Help Phone is a national charity that relies on donations and events to continue to offer professional counselling services free of charge. The Walk is Kids Help Phone's largest fundraising event, and raises a significant portion of the revenue needed to keep its counselling services available 24/7.
The crucial service Kids Help Phone provides ensures that there's always a counsellor available, wherever and whenever young people need help most.
"Every day, hundreds of young people from all across Canada reach out to Kids Help Phone for support, trusting us during their most challenging transitions," said Sharon Wood, President and CEO, Kids Help Phone. "Without the incredible support of our sponsors and community members, many of whom participated in this year's Walk, we simply would not be able to be there for them."
"Thank you to the 11,000 Canadians and nearly 7,000 BMO employees, their families and friends who participated in this year's Walk - whether they walked or donated, we're grateful for their incredible enthusiasm and generosity," said Connie Stefankiewicz, Chief Marketing Officer, BMO Financial Group. "As a partner of Kids Help Phone for more than 25 years and the presenting sponsor of the Walk, we are proud to be part of such an important event that brings us together to support kids in Canada."
In addition to presenting sponsor BMO, the Walk is supported by national sponsors AIR MILES – a LoyaltyOne program – Bluenotes, Nestlé Canada, Parmalat Canada, and The Source, and media partner Bell Media.
