MILWAUKEE, May 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Briggs & Stratton Corporation is making it easier than ever to wash the family car in the driveway by ditching the garden hose and bucket of soapy water for a pressure washer and vehicle detergents.
"It can get expensive to pay for a professional car wash, and washing the old-fashioned way takes extra elbow grease to clean a dirty vehicle," said Dan Roche, director of marketing for Portable Power and Cleaning Systems at Briggs & Stratton. "Using one of Briggs & Stratton's light duty pressure washers and specially formulated vehicle cleaners are sure to get any dirty car cleaner without working up a sweat."
Selecting the right pressure washer
Washing delicate, but dirty surfaces like a car, truck or boat is easier with the Briggs & Stratton Pressure Washer with POWERflow+ Technology™. This unit is offered in an electric or gas option. It features an exclusive valve and pump design that delivers high-pressure for deep cleaning. POWERflow+ Technology features High Flow, which is ideal for vehicle washing because it delivers up to five gallons per minute to rinse away soap, dirt and debris. Easily store and use detergent with the help of the on-board detergent tank. The 7-in-1 nozzle saves time by putting the user in control to adjust pressure settings and apply detergents with the twist of the nozzle head.
Selecting the right cleaner
Adding the right detergent to a car wash can take a vehicle from just clean to pristine. Briggs & Stratton's concentrated pressure washer vehicle, boat and car wash cleaner is designed to remove dirt without damaging the finish. Cleaning under the hood? The heavy-duty degreaser is great for removing oil, gasoline and grease from hard to reach spaces.
Using the pressure washer
Proper pressure washer operation is a must, regardless of the application. Briggs & Stratton recommends users stand four to five feet away while using any pressure washer to not cause damage to the vehicle's paint. Apply the detergent working from the bottom of the vehicle to the top to avoid streaking of the detergent. Pay extra attention to bumpers and wheels to remove excess muck and any bugs. Let the cleaner sit about three minutes. Before rinsing, clear the line in the pressure washer hose of any remaining detergent. Set the nozzle on a low pressure spray pattern. To rinse, start at the top of the vehicle and work down.
Safety
It is important to check the operator's manual to ensure the proper use of the pressure washer and any cleaner. Briggs & Stratton urges users to always wear safety goggles for eye protection. Protect hands by wearing durable work gloves while operating the pressure washer. Wear boots or other leather footwear. Never wear open-toed sandals or flip-flops when operating.
