Key West Collegiate Academy Announces New Principal For 2017-2018 School Year

KEY WEST, Fla., July 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Key West Collegiate Academy (KWCA) governing board is honored to announce that KWCA Founding Teacher, Thomas Rompella, has been named School Principal beginning the 2017-2018 school year. "Thomas Rompella is well respected by his peers and the right person to lead the school," said Todd German, Governing Board Chair.

In pursuit of furthering his career as an educator, Principal Rompella obtained a total of seven teaching certifications and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University during his time at KWCA. Mr. Rompella has vast experience in the field of education, both as a teacher and administrator. His roles at KWCA have gone beyond teaching, including Gradebook Manager, School Testing Administrator, New Teacher Induction Mentor, Exceptional Student Education Chair and Site Coordinator of Virtual Affairs. "I am thrilled to have an opportunity to develop future leaders at KWCA.  In addition to building core academic mastery, I look forward to putting a heavy emphasis on character development and building career skills.  This will ensure our program stays connected with the times and allows for our scholars to have success in a variety of future endeavors," says Principal Rompella.

With a passion for lifelong learning and a diverse interest in academic disciplines, he taught 13 different high school level classes ranging from AP Biology to Information Technology. Rompella is a recent graduate from the Doral Leadership Institute Principal Preparation Program and was nominated by the Florida Department of Education Deputy Chancellor for Education Quality to attend the Florida's Inaugural Leadership in Education class. Rompella's hard work does not go unnoticed by his peers, he has been voted teacher of the year three times! On the days he is not being teacher of the year or obtaining a new achievement you will find him serving on the Florida Keys Sea and Land Trust Board!
