Why Arnall Golden Gregory? Because AGG has been handling ongoing legal work for Jacoby Development's Atlanta Aerotropolis, a huge mixed-use commercial real estate project next to the world's busiest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson International.
Atlanta Aerotropolis, located in suburban Hapeville, is the brainchild of Jim Jacoby, who launched Atlantic Station, the renowned 138-acre brownfield development in Midtown Atlanta.
AGG helped bring Atlantic Station out of the ground. Now, Jacoby and AGG are working on Atlanta Aerotropolis, which Lindsay and co-author John D. Kasarda mention in their book. Kasarda, a University of North Carolina professor, is credited with coining the term "aerotropolis."
"I think the Jacoby Group are pioneers in the kind of remediation needed to reclaim the areas around airports that were once relegated to toxic or heavily industrial uses," Mr. Lindsay said after the book signing. "The fact that they chose Atlanta's airport as the site of their second large-scale, mixed-use project is a sign of both the tremendous development opportunities available and the inherent value in these sites."
Atlanta Aerotropolis is located on the site of a former Ford plant. Three AGG attorneys are assisting with the 130-acre commercial real estate project. Scott Fisher is responsible for the continuing legal work. James Rauschenberger handled the legal work involved in securing the New Market Tax Credits, which incentivize investors to invest in underserved areas. Mark Gould is working on the documents that will govern the construction and operation of a 30-acre solar farm over parking on the Atlanta Aerotropolis site.
"It's truly exciting to be involved in an innovative, high profile, ground-breaking development like Atlanta Aerotropolis," Mr. Fisher said. "Jim Jacoby is a visionary and we are proud to be part of the Jacoby team."
"Aerotropolis" was published March 8.
