Key Judges Join Faculty of HB's National Asbestos Litigation Conference

NEW YORK, July 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Judges responsible for overseeing many thousands of asbestos injury lawsuits around the country are leading and participating in the Thirteenth Annual National Asbestos Litigation Conference produced by HB Litigation Conferences, continuing this important event first launched under the Mealey's Conferences brand, according to Tom Hagy, former publisher of Mealey's and founder and CEO of HB.  The conference takes place Oct. 7-8, 2010, in New York City.

New York Supreme Court Justice Martin Shulman is one of three chairmen of the conference, joining plaintiff attorney Joseph W. Belluck of Belluck & Fox and defense counsel Michael J. Pietrykowski of Gordon & Rees in leading the program.  Justice Shulman maintains an active Supreme Court docket presiding over not only asbestos cases, but lawsuits involving drug product liability, complex mass torts and civil asset forfeiture. He was elected a Supreme Court Justice in New York County in November 2005. In 2000, he was appointed as Supervising Judge of the New York County Civil Court.

Judge Eduardo C. Robreno – the third judge to manage the massive Multi-District Litigation involving many thousands of asbestos claims – will speak at HB's 13th Annual National Asbestos Litigation Conference.  Born in Havana, Judge Robreno is the first Cuban-American to be appointed as a federal judge.  Robreno was appointed by President George H. W. Bush to a seat on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and has served as on that court since July 27, 1992.
