NEW YORK, Sept. 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Kevyn Aucoin Beauty is proud to partner with Marchesa for the Spring / Summer 2018 New York Fashion Week runway show as they begin a new chapter for the brand and launch #teamkevyn.
#Teamkevyn is a social and educational initiative that celebrates a community of artistry, bringing together makeup artists and beauty enthusiasts to share their work, inspiration, technique and passion. This program coincides with a 360 relaunch of the 15 year old iconic beauty brand that was founded by Kevyn Aucoin, together with the 20th anniversary of Making Faces, Aucoin's best-selling book that brought the art of beauty, technique and transformation to millions and changed the industry forever.
"The long term vision for the brand is to continue to carry out Kevyn's original mission which was to empower women to create their own version of beautiful through technique and transformation," says Hillary Solomon, CEO of Kevyn Aucoin Beauty.
Gucci Westman will lead the backstage makeup look, serve as the first honorary member of #teamkevyn and work alongside Viviana Martin, Director of Global Artistry and Pro-Artist Relations for Kevyn Aucoin Beauty.
"Kevyn was such an inspiration to me as an artist and being able to bring that full circle by working with the Kevyn Aucoin Beauty team at the Marchesa show is so special," recalls Westman.
Kevyn Aucoin Beauty, a backstage regular at New York Fashion Week, teaming previously with brands such as J.Mendel, Rebecca Minkoff, Lela Rose and Reem Acra, has chosen to relaunch the brand with Marchesa as a singular partner this season.
"We are excited to collaborate with Kevyn Aucoin Beauty for this year's show, working with Lead Makeup Artist, Gucci Westman and KAB's Artistic Director, Viviana Martin," says Marchesa co-founders Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig. "Our brands both have a foundation in artistry and the transformative power of glamour. It's felt like a natural fit from the start and we hope it's just the beginning."
Marchesa's Spring / Summer 2018 Runway Show takes place on Wednesday, September 13th at 4:00pm at Skylight Clarkson Square during New York Fashion Week.
About Kevyn Aucoin Beauty:
One of the most influential and iconic makeup artists of our time, Kevyn Aucoin painted and sculpted the faces of countless models and celebrities in high fashion and Hollywood, including Cher, Janet Jackson, Cindy Crawford, Madonna, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Julia Roberts and Gwyneth Paltrow. His work has appeared in editorial features, advertising campaigns, music videos, albums and the covers of virtually every major magazine, including 18 consecutive Vogue covers. Kevyn also leveraged his talents backstage transforming models for fashion designers such as Isaac Mizrahi and Todd Oldham. At the apex of his career, Kevyn was the most sought after makeup artist in the world.
His "beauty of the soul" philosophy and fondness for celebrating a person's differences was what distinguished him in an industry so prone to "traditions." Every stroke of his brush was guided by his belief that individuality is the true essence of beauty.
Despite his untimely passing in 2002, Kevyn Aucoin's vision lives on through his unrivaled, time-tested techniques, the growing community of makeup artists in the industry today, his New York Times best-selling beauty books, and the Kevyn Aucoin Beauty brand he founded and launched in 2001.
Kevyn Aucoin Beauty is a visionary collection of cosmetics and tools that reflect his artistic techniques and philosophies and are deeply rooted in his values of empowerment, originality and inclusivity.
Kevyn's most important legacy is the wisdom that true beauty is more than skin deep, and that through the transformative power of makeup we can discover something deeper about our true selves.
