Ketchum Taps World-Class Television Producer, Content Strategist Lori Beecher as EVP, Media and Content Strategy
NEW YORK, Aug. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Ketchum, one of the world leaders in communications and public relations, today appointed Lori Beecher, a world-class TV producer with a career spanning the "Today" show, "60 Minutes," and most recently, the syndicated talk show, "Katie," as executive vice president of media and content strategy, based in the firm's New York headquarters. Beecher assumes the newly created role immediately and will report into Debra Forman, partner and director of Ketchum Digital, and Tamara Norman, partner and associate director of Ketchum New York.
Beecher will counsel some of the firm's largest clients in North America on content-centric media strategy and executive visibility. She also will provide senior-level guidance for the development and management of highly visual content for brand and corporate storytelling.
"Lori is a master storyteller, known for crafting compelling broadcast and online narratives that have mass appeal. She has vast experience telling personal and brand stories within the earned, paid and branded content realms," said Barri Rafferty, senior partner and CEO, North America. "She also is known for her strong relationships within the entertainment and publishing industries, as well as all network and cable news operations. With nearly 30 years of experience producing award-winning programming, Lori's expertise is very well aligned with Ketchum's vision to continue to enhance our ability to deliver break through content for our clients."
Beecher has been responsible for securing and producing some of the most compelling news interviews in recent times, including college football star Manti Te'o, Supreme Court Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Sandra Day O'Connor, baseball phenom Alex Rodriguez, former presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton, President Bill Clinton, Sen. John and Elizabeth Edwards, and the compelling first interview with airline captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger and the heroic crew of US Airways 1549.
Beecher most recently served as coordinating producer for Katie Couric's nationally syndicated talk show, "Katie," and was part of the senior team that conceived, developed and successfully launched the program. Prior to that role, Beecher held producer roles at CBS News' "60 Minutes," CBS's "Evening News," NBC News' "Dateline NBC," NBC's "Today," NBC's "NOW with Tom Brokaw and Katie Couric," ABC's "Good Morning America" and ABC's "Nightline." Her work has garnered a number of high honors, including two Primetime Emmy Awards, a Daytime Emmy Award, the Alfred I. Dupont Award and the Sigma Delta Chi Award. In addition, she has been recognized by the National Association of Black Journalists, and she received the 2012 Distinguished Alumni Award from her alma mater, the University of Maryland College of Journalism.
"Working in the global media business for so many years has given me a unique perspective of the relationship between journalists and public relations professionals," said Beecher. "I'm excited for the challenges this new role will offer, and I look forward to using my background in television production and content creation to bring new opportunities, not just to our clients but also to the media with whom we work every day."
