Ketchum Appoints New Head of Entertainment
Entertainment A-Lister Marcus Peterzell Joins Ketchum Sports & Entertainment as EVP, Entertainment
NEW YORK, March 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Ketchum, one of the world's leading public relations firms, appointed Marcus Peterzell as executive vice president of entertainment for its Ketchum Sports & Entertainment (KSE) division, a growing specialty area for more than a decade. He brings 20 years of strategic entertainment marketing experience and deep relationships in the industry to KSE's elite client roster, which includes the World Triathlon Corporation, Frito-Lay and IBM.
Peterzell has a rich heritage in the industry, having joined leading entertainment marketing agency AWE in 2004 as co-president. While there, he helped expand the firm's presence by opening offices in Paris and London. He then moved to Fathom Communications in 2009 as managing director of entertainment. While working at AWE and Fathom Communications, both of which are Omnicom agencies, Peterzell executed numerous high-profile entertainment marketing programs for brands and companies including AXE, Nokia, Jeep, Time-Warner Cable, Hyundai, Candies and Philips. He also has gained extensive global experience creating strategy and content platforms for iconic brands like Nokia and Philips.
Peterzell, who is based in New York, will report to Ann Wool, partner and managing director of KSE, under whose leadership the combined sports and entertainment unit has thrived into one of Ketchum's most successful. He joins the bicoastal entertainment team, which executes programs across Ketchum's global network in 45 countries and has contributed to many of the agency's recent award-winning programs. The addition of Peterzell to the lineup bolsters KSE's music marketing, content licensing, partnership marketing and gaming integration services for brands looking to utilize entertainment channels - be it TV, film, music, gaming or celebrity talent.
"Marcus is the perfect addition to our team at a time when we are seeing clients' continuing bullish interest in pop culture and celebrity influencers," said Ann Wool. "He is like-minded in his passion and zeal to create extraordinary, breakthrough programs that leverage all aspects of entertainment. He will raise our game and, in the process, raise our profile within the industry."
Peterzell said, "Ketchum's entertainment team is second to none, and I am thrilled to be joining my new colleagues as we continue to build world-class entertainment marketing solutions for our clients across the globe."
Peterzell has spoken at more than a dozen high-profile industry events. His rich tenure in entertainment includes holding executive positions at numerous record labels, producing TV series and specials for Lifetime, USA and A&E networks and managing global superstars The Cure in the United States. As a board member for the T.J. Martell Foundation, Peterzell serves as chairman of the foundation's annual Family Day event where he secured the Jonas Brothers at last year's sold-out event, raising a record-setting $850,000.
