BOULDER, Colo., April 26, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Naropa University today announced that Kerri Kelly, renowned yoga instructor and social activist, will serve as Naropa's 2017 Commencement speaker. Kerri's speech, "The New Moral Majority," will discuss the recent spiritual movement playing out on yoga mats, meditation cushions, and in creative spaces around the world. Naropa's graduation will be held at Macky Auditorium in Boulder, Colorado, on May 14, beginning at 1 p.m. MST.
Recognized as the national leader in contemplative education, Naropa University will confer degrees to more than 250 graduate and undergraduate students. Naropa's 2017 graduating class will receive BA, BFA, MA, MFA, and MDiv degrees in the arts, education, environmental leadership, psychology, and religious studies, among others. Kerri's work was sparked on 9-11, when she lost her fireman step-dad in the towers. She quickly discovered the power of mindfulness, not only as a tool for personal healing, but also as a catalyst for collective change. Since then, Kerri has worked passionately across communities to fight for justice and well-being. She is the founder of CTZNWELL, an emerging movement to mobilize people into a powerful force for well-being for all.
"Kerri Kelly's work with CTZNWELL to ensure that resources supporting physical, mental and spiritual health are available to all, and not just to the most privileged, fits Naropa's mission perfectly. Our students and faculty lead the hard conversations about inclusion and social justice and Kerry's message will celebrate that work and offer the challenge that there is always more to do." – Charles G. Lief, President, Naropa University.
Kerri also spent seven years as executive director of the nonprofit Off the Mat, Into the World and is currently board chair. She is relentless in her commitment to elevating leaders, groups, and projects to next-level social change makers through her work with The Catalyst Collective, an innovative consultancy designed for mission-based individuals, groups, and organizations that want to be successful and make a difference in the world.
