Kern River Propane owners Clinton and Amy Cawley bought out a local hardware store in July 2013 and converted it into their new company at 4613 Lake Isabella Blvd.

Clinton has seen plenty of activity since adding U-Haul, with most pickup truck rentals staying in town while the larger trucks and trailers are utilized for more one-way trips coming and going.

The Cawleys were raised in the same area and Amy attended high school in Lake Isabella. The couple met at Bakersfield College where they studied agriculture, and they live in Bakersfield about 50 miles from Kern River Propane. But that doesn't stop them from being very involved owners – they are in the store several times a week.

With close ties to the Valley, the Cawleys are always seeking ways give back to the community. Kern River Propane donates propane to the local high school's Future Farmers of America club and assists with neighborhood church functions.

Before becoming a business owner, Clinton was a mechanic. He worked on farm prior to that. Both utilized natural gas in both jobs, so working with propane wasn't a stretch.
