Keolis Set To Reinstate 63 MBTA Commuter Rail Train Trips On March 23
With 432 trains back in service, 87 percent of regular weekday schedule restored; Added trains include 17 during peak service hours
BOSTON, March 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Keolis Commuter Service today announced that it will restore service on an additional 63 MBTA Commuter Rail trains, including 17 rush hour train trips, on March 23 with full service scheduled to be restored on or before March 30. This marks the largest number of commuter trains restored to service since the recovery schedule was put in place after winter storms impacted the commuter rail fleet.
Keolis has now returned 87 percent of the normal train fleet back into service, with a total of 107 trips restored between March 16 and March 23. Extra trains will be put back into service wherever possible between now and March 30.
On-time performance was 88 percent Thursday morning, with peak morning on-time performance averaging 94 percent and peak afternoon on-time performance averaging 92 percent this week.
"We pledged to bring the MBTA commuter rail system back to full service by March 30, and we are on track to meet that commitment," said Keolis Commuter Services General Manager Gerald C. Francis. "As we've done in prior weeks, these routes were selected based on the needs of our passengers and where we could have the greatest impact on the overall commuter rail schedule."
