LOUISVILLE, Ky., Feb. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Kentucky Health Cooperative, Inc., a nonprofit, health insurer focused on individuals and small businesses that will be member-governed, today announced a partnership with CareCore |MedSolutions, Inc., a Franklin, Tenn.-based Specialty Benefits Management (SBM) firm.
"Having provided thousands of Kentuckians with health insurance benefits for over a year now and having enough time pass to begin analyzing claims trends, we now have a firmer grasp of clinical trends that we believe will stick around," said Janie Miller, CEO of Kentucky Health Cooperative.
Miller continued, "These include radiology and advanced cardiac imaging, and in this space, there are opportunities to improve clinical care and save costs. It makes sense for us to partner with an industry-leading specialty benefits management provider to help forward our commitment to containing costs and achieving quality clinical outcomes. CareCore |MedSolutions emerged as the leader in radiology solutions."
"We are very excited to be working with Kentucky Health Cooperative through this partnership," said David Smith, President of Radiology, Cardiology, and Musculoskeletal solutions for CareCore|MedSolutions. "Their senior leadership understands that higher-quality healthcare goes hand-in-hand with lower cost healthcare, and that ultimately, this is what's better for their members. Our mission is to make sure all of their members receive the right tests and treatment, at the right time for them."
"Kentucky Health Cooperative's partnership with CareCore|MedSolutions represents a new and growing opportunity for the Health Insurance Cooperative to improve efficiency, lessen waste and provide a high standard of care, simultaneously, to our members and to the providers with which we are contracted," said Joseph E. Smith, chairman of the Health Insurance Cooperative's Board of Directors.
The program will allow for a more efficient review of clinical service requests. Physician offices and facilities will be able to call in requests for preauthorization of radiology and cardiac imaging tests and procedures. With shortened turnaround times, members will be able to get the care they need faster. It is anticipated that the program will be available in late March-early April.
