KEMET Scientists Win the John D. Moynihan Best Paper Award at CARTS USA
GREENVILLE, S.C., March 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- KEMET Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: KEME), a leading manufacturer of tantalum, multilayer ceramic, solid aluminum, film, paper and aluminum electrolytic capacitors, announced today that a paper presented at the Capacitor and Resistor Technology Symposium (CARTS) USA in April 2009 by Dr. Yuri Freeman, Director, Advanced Research, was awarded The John D. Moynihan Best Paper Award at CARTS USA 2010, held March 15-18 in New Orleans, LA.
The paper, entitled Electrical Characterization of Polymer Tantalum Capacitors with Poly (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) Cathode was co-authored by Dr. Freeman and Dr. Philip Lessner of KEMET, and Dr. Rod Harrell, Dr. Igor Luzinov and Mr. Brian Holman of Clemson University. This joint work between Clemson University and KEMET presents a scientific foundation for the behavior of KEMET's high voltage Polymer Tantalum capacitors manufactured with conductive polymer slurry. The Best Paper is selected each year by the attendees and the Program Committee.
"It gives me great pleasure to congratulate our scientists for this recognition of their success and continued pursuit of excellence in capacitance technology," said Per Loof, KEMET's Chief Executive Officer. "Quality work such as this helps solidify KEMET's leading position as The Capacitance Company, offering over 95% of dielectric solutions to our customers," continued Loof.
"Technology and Strategic Marketing work closely at KEMET. Our position as The Capacitance Company is highly dependent on having the right technologies at the right time to produce the solutions the market wants," stated Dr. Daniel Persico, Vice President, Strategic Marketing and Business Development. "This recognition clearly demonstrates that we are a leader in our industry and that we have the technology that our customers require and have come to expect from KEMET," continued Persico.
CARTS is an annual forum featuring the latest developments in passive technology solutions, test and measurement methods, and applications via symposium presentations, seminars, and exhibits to a network of raw material suppliers, manufacturers, design engineers, and academia. It is sponsored by the Electronic Components Association (ECA).
KEMET has been an active contributor to CARTS, winning awards for technical submissions numerous times during the symposium's history. Of the 35 papers presented during CARTS USA 2010, six were presented by KEMET scientists. In addition, KEMET's John Prymak, Director, Advanced Applications, and Dr. Erik Reed, Director, Electrical Characterization, chaired sessions on "New Applications and Practices," and "Reliability and Test."
