KEMET Introduces Industrial Grade Pulse Detonation Series Capacitors for Down-Hole Oil Field Exploration
GREENVILLE, S.C., Nov. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- KEMET Corporation (NYSE: KEM), a leading manufacturer of tantalum, ceramic, aluminum, film, paper and electrolytic capacitors, today introduced its new Industrial Grade Pulse Detonation Series Surface Mount Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors (MLCCs) in C0G dielectric. These devices feature a 200 degrees C maximum operating temperature and deliver reliable high voltage and high temperature performance required for operation in harsh environments typically associated with down-hole detonation circuitry.
"KEMET's Pulse Detonation capacitors offer higher and more uniform breakdown voltage performance than competitive products, resulting in increased yields in customer field applications," said Bill Sloka, KEMET Specialty Products Manager. "When dealing with large and expensive detonation systems, higher detonation yields can quickly result in significant cost savings."
Industrial Grade Pulse Detonation Series capacitors in C0G dielectric exhibit no change in capacitance with respect to time and voltage, and boast a negligible change in capacitance with reference to ambient temperature. They also retain high insulation resistance with low dissipation factor at elevated temperatures up to 200 degrees C.
KEMET's Pulse Detonation surface mount devices are manufactured in state-of-the-art ISO/TS 16949:2002 certified facilities and constructed of a robust and proprietary base metal electrode (BME) dielectric system. These capacitors are specially designed for down-hole oil exploration and perforation, and have been proven to function reliably in harsh, high temperature and high humidity down-hole environments.
