KEMET Introduces First-to-Market Multicomponent Capacitors for Low and High Frequency Filtering
GREENVILLE, S.C., July 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- KEMET Corporation (NYSE: KEM), a leading manufacturer of tantalum, ceramic, aluminum, film, paper and electrolytic capacitors, today introduced its first-to-market F5D Series metallized polyester (MKT) film capacitors with integrated ceramic capacitors. These multicomponent capacitors eliminate the need for two devices by filtering both low and high frequency noise in automotive motors and other suppression applications.
"These innovative multicomponent capacitors handle both low and high frequency EMI/RFI suppression in just one small device without the need for a printed circuit board," said Dr. Philip Lessner, KEMET Senior Vice President, Chief Technology Officer and Chief Scientist. "The F5D Series clearly demonstrates KEMET's continued commitment to technological leadership and serving our customers as The Capacitance Company."
"The F5D Series combines a self-healing MKT film capacitor, capable of withstanding high voltage peaks for low frequency filtering, and a multilayer ceramic capacitor of low capacitance for high frequency filtering," said Franz Wurmser, KEMET Research and Development Engineer. "Automotive motor applications such as windshield wipers, cooling fans and seat positioning can all benefit from this single leading-edge KEMET component."
