KEMET Expands Radio Frequency and Microwave Solutions
New Capacitance and Voltage Offerings Now Available in the HiQ-CBR Series
GREENVILLE, S.C., Aug. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- KEMET Corporation (NYSE: KEM), a leading global supplier of electronic components, today announced the expansion of its HiQ-CBR Series Surface Mount Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors (MLCCs) in C0G dielectric to include extended capacitance values and voltage ratings up to 500 volts.
"KEMET continues to push forward in its commitment to offer customers the most complete line of innovative capacitance solutions available," stated Dr. Abhijit Gurav, KEMET Vice President, Ceramic Technology. "The expansion of our CBR Series devices will allow KEMET to continue bringing world-class service and technology to radio frequency and microwave applications," Dr. Gurav added.
"HiQ-CBR Series MLCCs in C0G dielectric feature a robust and exceptionally stable copper base-metal electrode system that provides excellent low loss performance," said Reggie Phillips, KEMET Product Line Manager. "These devices offer extremely low ESR and high self-resonance characteristics and are well-suited for resonant circuit applications or those where Q and stability of capacitance characteristics are required," continued Phillips.
HiQ-CBR radio frequency (RF) capacitors are environmentally friendly and RoHS compliant and are suitable for many circuit applications, including RF power amplifiers, mixers, oscillators, low noise amplifiers, filter networks, antenna tuning, timing circuits, delay lines, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) coils.
Typical markets include telecommunications, medical, transportation, and defense and aerospace. The HiQ-CBR Series complements KEMET ferrite products, such as Chip Inductors and Ferrite Beads.
Technical Information
KEMET's CBR Series capacitors exhibit no change in capacitance with respect to time and voltage and boast a negligible change in capacitance with reference to ambient temperature. Capacitance change is limited to +/-30 ppm/Celsius degrees from -55 Celsius degrees to +125 Celsius degrees. They feature lower loss and improved power dissipation over palladium and nickel electrode technologies, reduced electrical noise and are capable of lead-free reflow profiles.
