KEMET Expands Polymer Hermetic Seal Portfolio
First-to-Market Capacitors Offer the Highest Voltage and Deliverable Energy with the Lowest Leakage Current
GREENVILLE, S.C., Sept. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- KEMET Corporation (NYSE: KEM), a leading global supplier of electronic components, today announced first-to-market expansions to its Polymer Hermetic Seal (PHS) capacitor portfolio. The T550 PHS DLA and T551 Polymer Hermetic Seal (PHS) Series both offer the highest voltage and deliverable energy with the lowest leakage current of any other solid tantalum capacitor.
With its robust anode quality and benign failure mode, the PHS Series of capacitors are ideal for use in high voltage power management applications such as buck boost converters, filtering, hold-up capacitors, and other high ripple current applications. With reduced ESR and enhanced capacitance retention at higher frequencies and low temperatures, the PHS Series of capacitors provides the highest total capacitance and the most economical solution for high power applications, all within an approximately 25% lighter package than the equivalent wet tantalum capacitor.
KEMET, in association with DLA, NASA, Aerospace Corporation and several KEMET aerospace customers, developed DLA Drawing 13030. This comprehensive drawing includes rigorous testing options for standard and high reliability flight applications including space. For this initial release, KEMET has qualified a subset of the T550 Series part numbers to ensure these products are suitable for high reliability applications.
The T551 PHS Series offers all of the performance benefits of the T550 Series but with an increased temperature rating of 125 degrees C. The T550 PHS Series is rated at 105 degrees C.
