EL SEGUNDO, Calif., July 16, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- KellstromDefense Aerospace Inc. ("KDA") is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Farmer as vice-president of life extension products (LEP) for the engineered products business segment.
Michael will be responsible for the overall leadership of the LEP business team focused on the development and deployment of proprietary intellectual property for the life extension of critical aircraft equipment and systems. The overall engineered products business segment is focused on end-of-life aircraft proprietary part manufacturing, aftermarket component design, licensing of proprietary OEM parts and the development of complex technology insertion solutions for aircraft life extension.
Current LEP fielded solutions include the SHORT-POD® APU and E2H ECS® upgrades for legacy C-130 Hercules aircraft and a wing refurbishment solution for the F-5 fighter. Additional technologies are currently under development for upgrade of mission-critical systems on numerous military aircraft including the DFQMS™, Digital Fuel Quantity Measurement Solution, currently in qualification for C-130 and C-5.
Michael will be based at the KDA Miramar, Florida, facility and will report directly to the president of engineered products, Scott Wooden.

Michael joins Kellstrom Defense with over 30 years of aviation and defense contractor experience supporting international and domestic defense customers. He is a proven and recognized expert for military aircraft sustainment, with experience across numerous current and legacy platforms, including C-130, P-3/S-3, F-22, C-5 and F-35.
He joins Kellstrom Defense from Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS), where he served as capture manager for the training and logistics services line of business. Michael has held several critical business capture, program management and customer management roles during his career at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics. He developed, implemented and managed multiple C-130H/J performance-based supply programs which included provisioning, kitting, warehousing, spares and repair management functions for global operators. He has been active with the C-130 worldwide operating community, with focus on customer support in the U.S., Europe, South Pacific, Middle East and Asia.
Michael previously served in the U.S. Navy as an S-3A/B Weapon Systems Sensor Operator prior to joining Lockheed Martin. He completed numerous deployments including combat operations during Operation Desert Storm.
