HOUSTON, April 22, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Kelley Drye & Warren LLP announced today the addition of two partners to its notable Intellectual Property and Litigation practices – David R. Clonts and Kevin E. Cadwell –from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP. Based out of Kelley Drye's Houston office, David and Kevin focus on high-tech and commercial litigation, with an emphasis on issues surrounding new and emerging technologies.
"We are thrilled to welcome Kevin and David to Kelley Drye," said Bill Jackson, managing partner of the firm's Houston office. "Having worked in Silicon Valley and the technology space for years, they bring deep knowledge and expertise in the nuanced issues that impact tech companies. Houston is a rising technology and innovation hub, and the addition of this team will not only benefit the firm nationally, but also the growing high-tech community right here in the city and across the state."

Kevin represents clients in complex commercial and technology-related matters. In addition to being at the forefront of addressing the legal issues related to the rapidly developing areas of autonomous vehicles and "smart cities," Kevin also handles matters including breach of contract, negligence, energy-related disputes, and cases involving patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret and trade dress.
"Kevin and I have been a team for many years now," said David. "I am an engineer who became a litigator, and Kevin is an incredible litigator who excels at learning the nuances needed to work in tech and IP. We are excited to bring our combination of skills and expertise to Kelley Drye and its strong client base."
"One of the reasons Kelley Drye was so appealing to us at this point in our careers is because it has a nationwide footprint but feels and operates like a boutique," Kevin continued. "We are now in the unique position to offer more flexible fee arrangements to clients, while simultaneously giving personalized attention and providing the support of a big firm."
David and Kevin also bring with them Monica Moussighi, who joins the firm as Special Counsel with a background in electrical engineering.
