ComEd customers can use new online data to compare their electricity use to their neighbors
CHICAGO, Oct. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Wonder how much electricity you use compared to your neighbor? Looking for practical ways to save energy and money on your electric bill? ComEd customers can now find answers to these questions and more through "My Energy Tools," a series of online features designed to help manage home energy usage.
By logging in to their online ComEd account, customers can access personalized energy savings tips, comparisons of their energy usage to similar-sized homes in their neighborhood, data on their current energy usage compared to last year, and an online home energy audit. Customers also can create a personalized energy management plan and measure their progress against their goals.
"Our goal is to give customers the tools they need to manage their energy budgets," said Val Jensen, senior vice president, Customer Operations, ComEd. "These web tools are part of the many improvements ComEd is making to deliver greater value to our customers through enhanced customer service."
In addition, customers now can access the "Green Button" on ComEd's website. Green Button gives customers easy access to their energy usage data in a standardized, consumer-friendly format with a single click on the Green Button icon. This initiative is expected to support the creation of innovative apps that can help customers make the most of their energy usage information.
Complementing these new online tools, ComEd already offers a variety of energy efficiency programs through its Smart Ideas® portfolio. The programs provide customers with information, tools and resources they need to reduce their energy consumption, save money on their electric bills, and help the environment.
ComEd also recently launched four digital energy management games playable through ComEd.com and ComEd's Facebook page (Facebook.com/ComEd), with select games available on Android Tablets and Apple's iPad. The games teach players about energy efficiency and help customers understand the work involved in modernizing the electric grid.
