KDC Solar to Build 6.1 MW Solar Facility for The Lawrenceville School in Lawrence Township, New Jersey
BEDMINSTER, N.J., Oct. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- KDC Solar LLC, headquartered in Bedminster, New Jersey through a subsidiary ("KDC Solar"), has commenced construction on a 6.1 MW ground mounted solar installation to be installed at The Lawrenceville School on the school's campus in Lawrence Township, New Jersey. KDC Solar has selected J. Fletcher Creamer & Son, Inc., headquartered in Hackensack, New Jersey, to install the solar facility. Once built and as designed, the solar facility will generate approximately 8,600,000 kilowatt hours of solar electricity per year and supply 90% of the electric power needs for The Lawrenceville School facilities.
A ground breaking ceremony was held at the site on October 5th attended by officials from The Lawrenceville School, KDC Solar and Lawrence Township. The project is scheduled to be fully operational in the second quarter of 2012.
KDC Solar signed a procurement and construction contract with Creamer, a full service, multi-disciplined contracting company headquartered in Hackensack, NJ serving the business community, governmental agencies and utilities throughout the continental United States. The project is expected to use nearly 25,000 high efficiency 245W panels manufactured by SolarWorld Americas.
"As a school of future leaders, Lawrenceville has the potent opportunity both to be a good steward of our environment and to graduate students who will become good stewards as their lives take shape in societies around the world," said Wes Brooks, Lawrenceville's Chief Financial and Chief Operating Officer. "This project has the scale to take the School virtually 'off the grid' while exposing our students to an example they will want to emulate. We are excited about this project and very pleased to be partnered with KDC."
"We are excited about the opportunity to provide the Lawrenceville School with clean, low cost, long-term solar energy," said Hal Kamine, KDC Solar's CEO. "This solar facility follows The Lawrenceville School's commitment to their Green Campus initiative and is consistent with KDC Solar's commitment to "behind-the-meter" solar electric systems for business/government and institutions in New Jersey."
"We are very pleased to be working yet again with KDC Solar on the Lawrenceville School solar project," said Robert A. Flock, Business Development Manager at Creamer. "This will be a first class energy producing facility for the school as they seek to enhance their green initiative. This will also be a great addition to the portfolio of solar projects constructed by J. Fletcher Creamer & Son."
