KDC Ag Adds Two More To Its World Class Advisory Board To Help Solve The Fresh Food Waste Problem
Sam Kass, Obama's White House Chef and Senior Advisor to Nutrition and Matt Jansen former CEO of COFCO Int'l and SVP at ADM join KDC Ag to deploy revolutionary patented technology nationwide.
BEDMINSTER, N.J., Oct. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- KDC Agribusiness LLC ("KDC Ag"), located in Bedminster, New Jersey, is pleased to announce Sam Kass and Matt Jansen have joined their Board of Advisors. Kass and Jansen join an already star-studded board of advisors that includes, Howard W. Buffett; Ann Veneman, former U.S. Secretary of Agriculture; Alex Urquhart, former CEO of GE Energy Financial Services; Chris Erickson of Parsonage Lane Advisors; Oliver Libby of Hatzimemos and Libby; and others.
Kass and Jansen both have extensive backgrounds in the agriculture sector. Kass's latest stint was as the only person in U.S. history to be in both the White House Residence and Executive office of a President. During his tenure, Kass was the White House Chef, Senior Policy Advisor on Nutrition and Executive Director for Michelle Obama's "Lets Move" campaign.
Meanwhile, Jansen was CEO of COFCO International and previous to that was President of ADM's Global Oilseed Business with annual sales of $35B.
Kass and Jansen will be key in helping KDC Ag deploy their patented technology that will help solve the issue that over 40% of the food we grow within the U.S. is discarded. To change this macro problem, KDC Ag is using their technology that takes all forms of fresh food waste discarded from supermarkets and within three hours turns it into a pathogen free, consistent, nutrient dense, animal feed and fertilizer.
It is important to note, that KDC Ag's mission is to collect all this food after any donations can occur, as the maximum usage of food will always be towards providing it to people in need. Once at KDC Ag's facility, the process emits no odors, no effluent, no gases, and does not let the food rot.
Each facility that KDC Ag is developing will consume 60,000 tons of fresh food waste per year, digesting close to 160 tons per day. KDC Ag will be expanding nationwide throughout 2018. By capturing this fresh food waste stream and turning it into fertilizer and animal feed, KDC Ag is creating a 100% closed loop agriculture system with no waste, less chemicals, and healthier animals.
Jansen states that, "Starting small, scaling fast, and thinking big is what KDC Ag is doing. I've done business in almost every corner of the world, and one thing all customers have in common is the need for quality, reliable, nutritious, sustainable inputs that are competitively priced. KDC Ag delivers on all of those fronts and is a macro solution to a global problem."
KDC Ag is also looking to partner with existing incumbents to make sure that the maximum value of their technology and solutions are realized by all aspects of society; the supermarkets, the farmers, and the consumers. Kass mentions that, "There is tremendous innovation happening throughout the food system to increase sustainability and reduce waste. No company that I have seen has a greater potential to impact these issues at real scale than KDC Ag."
Justin Kamine, Cofounder of KDC Ag states that, "KDC Ag is excited by bringing on both Kass and Jansen, who have proven to be two leaders throughout the agriculture world for many years. Their expertise, industry knowledge, and vision to create a waste free and closed loop agriculture system will help enable KDC Ag's goal of eliminating fresh food waste across the U.S. and to use those nutrients the very next day to improve our soils and increase our animals' health."
"The idea of taking fresh grocery waste before it rots and using a breakthrough technology like KDC Ag's is a huge step in closing the food cycle and changing the agriculture world," says Jansen.
KDC Agribusiness: KDC Ag is a Kamine Development Company ("KDC") which has developed over $3.5 billion of national infrastructure. KDC Ag is now focused on utilizing food waste to its maximum benefit, to grow more animals and produce in a more sustainable closed loop agriculture system.
