Kathleen Sidwell Celebrated as Artist & Owner of The Studio on Slough Road
"As an artist I was always able to manage the tightwire we all walk on between stability and terror, existential angst, through art making"
BREWSTER, Mass., Nov. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Kathleen Sidwell is a distinguished biographee of Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are chosen from among a pool of the most prominent professionals and are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
"The overwhelming danger we all live with, the temporal nature of our being, feels fragile at best, overwhelming most of the time. The process of creation, and expression of deep love and attachment while staying hopeful is only possible for me by making art. I experience lucid dreams and they are carried on in my work as though I am talking to some deep unreachable part of myself. MY work often feels like notes to myself. The freedom to express myself is my lifeline. I have always gone to my sketch book since childhood. I am captivated by the overwhelming beauty and power of the natural world."
Kathleen Sidwell is noted for her investigations into the relationship between man and the land he inhabits. Her work is often abstract and lyrical, sensual and moody with layers of subtle colors and textures. Her travels throughout the world, from China to Nicaragua, Croatia to Budapest, Vienna, Munich, Salzburg and Bavaria, along with her extensive studies in Celtic culture and ritual all play a part in her poetic images of woodland, mountains and seascapes. Her travels in Ireland and Scotland have left an endearing impression on her work, tapping into her Welsh, Irish and Scottish heritage. Her long association with the Gulf Coast, the wetlands, the prairies of Colorado and Kansas, the countryside of France and Germany, and the Caribbean culture of New Orleans and Grand Cayman, have formed a lifelong love affair with habitat, both human and wildlife.
As an artist, Kathleen Sidwell chronicles life: its joys and tragedies. Through her images one experiences the awe and wonder of life's gifts and most astounding miracles. Walk the earth with her in these paintings and prints.
