MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., July 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- ProQuest has joined forces with Karger Publishers to offer books from this leading medical science publisher via the OASIS® platform. This partnership is the 9th formed between OASIS and a partner platform since August 2016.
Through the OASIS search, selection and acquisition system, users enjoy simplified access to the broadest curated print and ebook title databases in the industry. Workflows are similarly enhanced through powerful search, profiling, flexible acquisition models including DDA, and integration with multiple library management systems.
With Karger on OASIS, customers have an additional ebook platform they may choose, with access to hundreds of titles spanning more than 100 subject areas. OASIS users connect to a range of ebook platforms – aggregator platforms such as Ebook Central®, EBL, ebrary®, MyiLibrary® and EBSCO®*. A growing list of partner platforms includes UPSO, Wiley Online Library, Info-Sci, Taylor & Francis, CRCnetBase, De Gruyter, R2 Digital Library and now Karger Publishers.
Karger is dedicated to serving the information needs of the scientific community with high-quality content, covering all fields of medical science. The Karger book program comprises over 40 book series, mainly published in English. With about 50 new book titles per year, including several non-series book titles, the program covers all disciplines of human medicine and related science.
"When libraries are empowered to select ebooks from whichever platforms or publishers they prefer, it's easier for them to build collections that meet the specific needs of their students, scholars and faculty," said Audrey Marcus, Vice President, Product Management, ProQuest Books. "Our goal is to make OASIS a gateway to order books from any platform or publisher. We will continue to form additional partnerships, expanding options even further."
ProQuest has significantly enriched the OASIS platform to simplify workflows and support faster and better collection development. These include additions of publisher ebook platforms and value-add features such as a Demand-Driven Acquisition (DDA), MARC removal service, DDA add button, new title awards profile, collections support, WorldCat links and faster ebook order processing.
The OASIS® platform is ProQuest's free web-based system for searching, selecting, and ordering print and electronic books for academic libraries. The company's strategic partnership with Ingram, the world's largest book wholesaler, enables ProQuest to provide unparalleled speed and reliability in fill rates for print books via OASIS.
