Karen A. Stanek, M.D., Ph.D., is recognized by Continental Who's Who
SPOKANE, Wash., Oct. 17, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Karen A. Stanek, M.D., Ph.D., is recognized by Continental Who's Who as a 2017 Pinnacle Professional of the Year in the Medical field.
Dr. Stanek serves as a Physician and Founder of Northwest Medical Rehabilitation, which specializes in medical rehabilitation services. She has worked in the field for over 20 years and brings extensive expertise in the areas of neurological physical medicine, brain injury, inpatient rehabilitation, pediatric and adult cerebral palsy and complex spasticity management.

Prior to assuming her current roles, Dr. Stanek served as Medical Director of Deaconess Rehabilitation Center from 1993 to 1994, and was instrumental in the merger between Deaconess Rehabilitation Center and Providence Sacred Heart Rehabilitation Unit to form St. Luke's Rehabilitation Institute. She then founded Northwest Medical Rehabilitation in 1996.
Before getting into medicine, Dr. Stanek completed a Masters degree and a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology from the University of Wisconsin. After serving as a research fellow under Dr. Arthur Guyton from 1979 to 1984, he encouraged her to enter medical school. Soon after, Dr. Stanek went on to earn her Medical degree from the University of Mississippi Sciences Center. She completed her Residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Colorado, and studied Business Administration and Management at the Harvard School of Public Health. Additionally, she is Board Certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
To further her professional development, Dr. Stanek is a member of AAPM&R, ACRM, AMA and APS. When not working, she volunteers her time to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, and enjoys fishing, hiking and gardening.
