DENVER, Oct. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- To recognize the millions of hardworking professionals in the U.S. and around the globe who keep workplaces clean and safe, Kärcher and the Building Services Contractors Association International (BSCAI) are celebrating October 19 as Thank Your Cleaner Day.
There are more than 2.3 million janitor and building cleaner jobs in the U.S., according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. These trained professionals dutifully support office buildings, factories, schools, healthcare facilities, public buildings and other workplaces.
Kärcher, the world's leading provider of cleaning technology, has teamed up with partners around the world to recognize professional cleaners. Thank Your Cleaner Day was first celebrated in 2015 by Kärcher New Zealand in partnership with the Building Services Contractors of New Zealand (BSCNZ).
In the U.S., Kärcher North America is teaming up with BSCAI, a worldwide network of more than 2,000 member companies that provide cleaning, facility maintenance, security, landscaping and other related building services, to encourage businesses and employees to express their appreciation of their own onsite cleaning staff. BSCAI member companies will be personally thanking their own cleaning professionals for their significant contribution to the overall health and well‑being of communities nationwide.
"Sick and injured employees cost businesses billions of dollars a year in health costs and lost productivity," said Chris Mundschenk, CEO of BSCAI. "Our industry's dedicated cleaners play a key role in combatting the spread of germs and illness while minimizing interruption to employees."
With more than 11,500 employees across 60 countries, Kärcher is participating in Thank Your Cleaner Day and working with partners like BSCAI to call on individuals to express their appreciation to cleaners.
"Many of the individuals who keep our workplaces clean and safe do so in the evenings and on weekends, and thus do not cross paths with those who benefit," said Hannes Saeubert, Kärcher North America CEO. "Thank Your Cleaner Day was established to encourage ourselves and others to recognize the dedicated professionals we depend on and the valuable service they provide."
Office managers and employees alike are encouraged to share the following materials, available on ThankYourCleanerDay.com, in their workplace and on social media with #thankyourcleanerday to help raise awareness of the value workplace cleaners provide and encourage others to express their gratitude:
