Kärcher and BSCAI Champion Thank Your Cleaner Day
Annual event honors the 2.3 million janitors and cleaning professionals in the U.S. who keep workspaces clean and safe
DENVER, Oct. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Kärcher, the global leader in cleaning technology, and the Building Services Contractors Association International (BSCAI) are celebrating Thank Your Cleaner Day on October 18 in recognition of the millions of janitors and cleaning professionals in the U.S. and around the world.
These professionals – numbering more than 2.3 million in the U.S. according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics – represent a diverse range of skilled and oftentimes physically demanding job functions in sanitation and building and facilities maintenance. They are entrusted with keeping the interiors and exteriors of office buildings, public buildings, hospitals, schools, retail stores and hotels orderly, clean and hygienic.
In recognition of their contributions, Kärcher and BSCAI have teamed up to bring greater awareness to the day and encourage companies to expressively give their appreciation to their own on site cleaning staff. BSCAI's worldwide network of up to 1,000 member companies are encouraged to participate in the day by personally thanking professional cleaners with notes of appreciation, lunch on the day of the event and Thank Your Cleaner Day posters in workspaces. BSCAI has also made available resources on its website so any organization can participate in the campaign and thank their professional cleaners in-person or on social media using the #thankyourcleanerday hashtag.
"We know that clean environments contribute significantly to the overall health and wellbeing of everyone in our communities and cities nationwide, and help generate a positive image for businesses and organizations," said Christopher Mundschenk, Executive Vice President/CEO of BSCAI. "This event is about celebrating and acknowledging the vital contribution that professional cleaners make to our everyday lives."
First celebrated in 2015 in New Zealand, Thank Your Cleaner Day expanded last year with organized efforts in the U.S. and other markets. That growth has continued in 2017 with active campaigns in eight countries, including the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Chile and Colombia.
As program sponsor, Kärcher is also actively participating in Thank Your Cleaner Day by recognizing the company's highly skilled professionals who provide expert consulting and technical cleaning solutions to professional contractors, management companies and industry sectors around the world.
"We appreciate the millions of cleaners who tirelessly work around the clock to keep our working environments clean and safe," said Kris Cannon-Schmitt, VP of Marketing & Communications of Kärcher North America. "We're pleased to see Thank Your Cleaner Day grow each year in our effort to recognize the hard working cleaners around the world who are oftentimes unseen but whose work is tremendously valued."
