Kamps Propane President to serve as 2015-2016 Chairman of Western Propane Gas Association
MANTECA, Calif., June 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- In a life and career marked by significant milestones and achievements, Terry Ayres has accomplished his fair share of goals.
Now, 32 years after beginning his career in the energy business, he'll serve the Western Propane Gas Association (WPGA) as the Chairman of the Board for the 2015-2016 term.
The role is important, as WPGA represents member companies during a time of significant challenges and opportunities. The climate change debate, emerging clean energy solutions and technological innovations all present propane marketers with reasons to toss and turn at night as they push for rightful inclusion in relevant legislation and marketplace adoption.
Ayres has the knowledge, experience and leadership qualities to tackle the moment head on.
WPGA CEO Joy Alafia summed it up, commenting "We're delighted to have Terry Ayres serve as the 2015-16 Chairman. This year presents numerous challenges and opportunities for the Association. With over 30 years in the industry, Terry's knowledge and experience will be a valuable asset in plotting the overall course of the organization."
Ayres has been one of the key players in the emergence of Kamps Propane companies as a regional competitor in the western United States. He's got 22 years served as a volunteer firefighter for departments in California. He's a member of the National Fire Protection Association's Technology Standards and Safety committee. And he's excited for the new challenges.
"I've got great people around me and we're all geared up to reach goals we can be proud of." remarked Ayres. "I'm not good at waiting for good things to happen – I prefer to try and make them happen".
He's got plenty to see when he looks back over the last four decades. He and his wife Terri have been married for 35 years. They have two grown kids and six grandkids. It's fair to say that between Kamps Propane, the WPGA, the NFPA, the VFD and a family that stretches from California to Texas, things will stay busy for a while!
