SEATTLE, March 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Kaiser Permanente, one of the nation's leading health care providers and not-for-profit health plans, today expanded access to integrated care and coverage across the state of Washington — from Seattle to Spokane and Everett to Olympia — furthering the organization's mission to provide high-quality, affordable health care services and to improve the health of its members and communities it serves.
The Kaiser Permanente model of high-quality, affordable and accessible health care is now available in an additional 19 counties in Washington state, with 25 primary care clinics in 17 cities, five urgent-care facilities and four outpatient surgery centers. In addition, Kaiser Permanente will invest $1 billion over the next decade to expand and modernize facilities and technology, and to advance patient care and service. Kaiser Permanente currently cares for more than 674,000 members in this new region.
"We are honored to care for even more Washingtonians and their families," said Susan Mullaney, president, Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington. "Beginning today, Washingtonians can access Kaiser Permanente's high-quality care and coverage across the state. Our coordinated and connected approach to care brings Kaiser Permanente doctors, nurses and specialists together to care for our members' total health — mind, body and spirit."
The Kaiser Permanente model of care relies on the connection to its physicians and care providers. The Washington Permanente Medical Group is among the largest and most honored multi-specialty group practices in the Pacific Northwest. With nearly 1,400 care providers and more than 550 specialists with expertise in prevention, chronic disease management and treatment of the most complex medical problems, Kaiser Permanente members can feel confident that they are receiving superior quality and personalized service.
"Our organization has a long and proud history of engaging with patients, providing world-class care in a way that is respectful and appropriate for each individual patient. This high-quality care from physicians and specialists continues, and will be enhanced as we care for our patients every day," said Steve Tarnoff, MD, president and executive medical director, Washington Permanente Medical Group.
Kaiser Permanente has been nationally recognized for embracing technology and bringing its members innovative new ways to access care and service. Members can continue to use online and mobile tools to manage their health and the health of their families, and can expect further enhancements in the future.
"We will continue to invest and improve our interactive technologies to enable us to provide our members even more personalized care and service on their terms, when and where they want it," said Mullaney. "We know that Washington is a hub for innovation and our members can look forward to our continued investment in technologies that will allow them to focus on their total health."
Since its founding in 1945, Kaiser Permanente has committed to improving the health of the communities that it serves and will invest $800 million over the next decade to improving health in communities across Washington.
Kaiser Permanente's Washington Region launches in the market after the completion of the acquisition of Group Health on Feb. 1, 2017. Kaiser Permanente also provides care and coverage in Clark and Cowlitz counties through its Kaiser Permanente Northwest Region, which also serves members in the state of Oregon, and will continue to do so.
