OAKLAND, Calif., Nov. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Kaiser Permanente's Psychiatric Health Facility in Santa Clara, Calif. this week was named a "Top Performer on Key Quality Measures," an annual recognition given to hospitals for outstanding quality and safety.
The Northern California mental-health facility and 14 other Kaiser Permanente hospitals in California and Hawaii were honored by The Joint Commission – the leading accreditor of health care organizations in the United States. "Top Performer" status is awarded for exemplary performance in using evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care in 10 conditions, including heart attack, surgical care and inpatient psychiatric services.
"Kaiser Permanente has had a sustained focus on delivering the highest quality mental health care to our members, and this recognition underscores our continuous efforts to provide the best care possible," said Don Mordecai, MD, director of Mental Health and Chemical Dependency Services, and chair, Chiefs of Psychiatry for Kaiser Permanente's Northern California Region. "Ensuring that care is easily available when it's needed is incredibly important, and at Kaiser Permanente, we have taken steps to ensure our members have access to the best mental health care professionals when they need them."
The recognition for the Kaiser Permanente psychiatric facility is the latest in a number of awards and honors highlighting Kaiser Permanente's mental health care services:
