Kaiser Permanente Helps Students Kick Off A Healthy School Year
Local health leader brings awareness and resources to school fairs
ROCKVILLE, Md., Aug. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- As part of Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic State's focus on improving school health and wellness, the non-profit organization is sponsoring Back to School fairs in Prince George's County, Baltimore City and Montgomery County to prepare children for a healthy school year.
Kaiser Permanente will provide activities and resources at each of the three locations to raise awareness about the importance of immunizations, physical activity and making healthy food choices. The organization's Educational Theater group will perform a nutrition quiz to teach children how to make healthy choices and a certified personal trainer, will lead children and parents through exercises designed to burn calories and increase heart rate. Attendees are also encouraged to try a stationary bicycle that creates spin art. The organization's presence at these events is connected to its broader new program, Thriving Schools, Kaiser Permanente's effort to create a culture of health and wellness in schools.
