State announces KP's integrated care, coverage available for state employees
ROCKVILLE, Md., Aug. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States today announced that the integrated health care provider has been named a health plan option for Maryland state employees, available for employees effective January 1, 2015.
"We are proud to be a health plan option for Maryland state employees, bringing our award-winning care and top doctors to 200,000 additional Marylanders," said Kim Horn (@KimHornKPMAS), president, Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States. "We fully support the state's efforts to streamline and simplify health care choices for their employees."
"Our employees and physicians have been focused and dedicated to consistently providing the best member, patient, and customer experience in the Mid-Atlantic," said Bernadette Loftus, MD, Associate Executive Director, Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group. "Permanente physicians, supported by our health plan counterparts, have continually raised the bar for quality care, earning the highest quality health care and member satisfaction rankings in Maryland, Washington D.C., and Virginia."
Kaiser Permanente has provided quality care and coverage to Maryland residents. Beginning in 2012, Kaiser Permanente has opened two new state-of-the-art multi-specialty medical centers in Maryland (Gaithersburg and Baltimore County), and renovated and expanded its Largo Medical Center, making it Kaiser Permanente's largest medical center in the region.
In June, Kaiser Permanente became a Medicaid participating managed care organization in Maryland, bringing the non-profit's quality, preventive care, and convenience to the state's individuals and families enrolled in the program.
In addition, on July 29, Kaiser Permanente and Johns Hopkins Medicine announced plans to strengthen the successful collaboration between the two health care organizations.
With the new agreement, Kaiser Permanente and Johns Hopkins Medicine will work to deliver quality care by sharing evidence-based best practices, advancing population health programs, collaborating on education and research endeavors, and exploring how the organizations can work together to create better health care models for consumers and the communities they serve.
