K12 Website Calendar Is First to Meet Website Accessibility Requirements
CINCINNATI, July 12, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- In the latest in a line of major enhancements to its website content management system for schools, Campus Suite has launched new calendar features that now give schools the ability to have an ADA-compliant, fully accessible school calendar that plugs right into parent's personal online calendars.
In addition to the ability to synchronize specified calendar content with users' own personal calendars, and view options that include a fully accessible version for people with disabilities, Campus Suite's new calendar functionality is geared to customize the school website calendar experience for parents and all users in the school community.
The online school calendar, an integral part and most-used feature on any school website, historically has presented challenges to both school administrators seeking to keep calendar content fresh and accurate, and parents seeking to retrieve the calendar information most useful to them.
The new features address those challenges and are consistent with Campus Suite's commitment to help schools create greater digital equity – providing the tools for equal access to technology for everyone.
"The school calendar is the proverbial workhorse of school communications," said Eric Fulkert, CEO of Campus Suite. "It's the most visited part of any school website, and it is the best opportunity a school has to connect with parents, so we've been focusing on delivering innovations that will make an impact on how schools engage."
New calendar functionality highlights:
- View options: Select traditional master calendar, graphical, list, printable or accessible list view, and toggle back and forth between views.
- Synchronization: Sync full calendars and specific events to personal calendars (Google Calendar, Microsoft 365, iOS, Android, etc.), and subscribe to preferred content.
- Filtering: Select from color-coded calendars (school, district, department, etc.)
- Saved settings: Save and return to customized, personal calendar settings.
- Multi-day events: Quickly view multiple-day events at a glance.
- Mobile friendly: Fully responsive design optimized for phones, tablets and any mobile device.
Besides streamlining how the master calendar, school calendar and event info is managed by school staff members and other managers of calendar content, the Campus Suite R&D team used a parent-centric approach to design and test the calendar innovations.
"Are we making it easy for all our parents to access the school calendar, integrate it into their own schedules, find important information from their phones and iPads, and otherwise connect with school?" said Fulkert. "This is how we approached and solved the challenge. Schools need to keep pace with the way parents want critical school information."
Campus Suite is working continuously to roll out new features and functionality, and the launch of our new calendar feature, on the heels of the new Draft Approval workflow feature, is another example of its commitment to helping schools improve how they communicate. The new calendar feature is included in Campus Suite's CMS, part of the Campus Suite school communication cloud, which includes ADA-compliant CMS, text and voice notification systems, and mobile apps to K-12 school districts, public, private and charter schools, and community and small colleges.
