Justice Department Announces Bulletin on Needs and Services of Youth in Custody
FINDINGS FROM THE SURVEY OF YOUTH IN RESIDENTIAL PLACEMENT
WASHINGTON, April 5 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Department of Justice's Office of Justice Programs today announced the release of the Youth's Needs and Services, the second bulletin in a series that presents findings from the Survey of Youth in Residential Placement, from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. The findings describe how residential facilities meet the medical, mental health, and educational needs of youth in confinement and indicate areas for improvement.
The bulletin includes the youth's reports regarding their overall emotional and psychological problems and counseling they received in custody, their substance abuse problems prior to entering custody and the counseling they received, medical needs and services, and educational background and educational services that facilities provided.
