MADISON, Conn., Aug. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- PowerPhone, a leading provider of 911 training and technology, has announced the launch of Just in Time training to bring the latest continuing education topics directly to call takers' desktops. Unveiled at the 2013 Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) Annual Conference in Anaheim, California, Just in Time training is available as a cost-effective annual subscription and delivered as short, "bite-size" online courses; allowing dispatchers to now effectively train when and where they want, without the overhead associated with travel, scheduling and overtime.

PowerPhone's Just in Time training was developed as a direct result of the company's national eLearning Survey where nearly 90% of respondents favored short courses on important topics such as special needs callers, stroke and emerging technology. Further, with more states mandating ongoing education as part of 911 call taking requirements, the deployment of Just in Time training will offer significant cost savings to already cash strapped public safety agencies.
"We're excited to bring Just in Time training to market," said Dr. Gary Moore, PowerPhone's director of learning. "Not only are we offering the latest information on topics directly impacting 911, but we are doing so in the most convenient and cost-effective manner. There's no doubt that Just in Time training will help improve the standard of care being provided by 911 centers across the country."
PowerPhone's Just in Time training is now available for enrollment via the company's DispatchU eLearning portal. They have launched with six classes, including Active Shooting Response, PTSD and the Call Taker and Human GPS. A new short course will be deployed each month. Agencies may enroll their staff in an annual subscription, which will guarantee them a minimum of twelve classes per year, or approximately twelve contact hours of training.
"The short courses give us an opportunity to shine a light on topics we might not be able to cover in a traditional course," said Dr. Moore. "Also, breaking down an eLearning course into 'bite-size chunks,' or sections, makes it much easier to digest, easier to understand and easier to remember."
