CHICAGO, April 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Just Energy announced it is donating $10,000 to The Salvation Army Metropolitan Division's Share the Warmth fund. The program lends a hand to thousands of citizens from Greater Chicago seeking help with energy bill payments during the last few months of winter. Established in 1983, the program is one of the largest of its kind in the nation.
"Our donation to Share the Warmth fund will help strengthen and support families during challenging times by keeping them safe and warm," said Ken Hartwick, President and CEO of Just Energy. "We are proud and pleased to be supporters of an effort that helps families in need of assistance with their energy bills."
Since 2000 the Share the Warmth fund has provided more than $7 million in grants that match the payments of low and fixed income citizens. According to The Salvation Army the donation will allow for many families to receive help with their heating costs. More than 10,000 families benefit from the program throughout the Chicago area.
"Just Energy's remarkable and generous donation supports many Chicago families and individuals in dire need of assistance to stay warm this winter," said Deborah Terrell, Director of Corporate Relations of The Salvation Army Metropolitan Division. "Every donation toward our cause is invaluable as families in need overcome difficult and cold times."
