Junior League of Denver Announces New Community Focus During Colorado Literacy Week
Changing Lives Through Literacy: Read - Learn - Grow
DENVER, Feb. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- In conjunction with Colorado Literacy Week, the Junior League of Denver (JLD) is excited to announce a new community focus – literacy. The new focus – Changing Lives Through Literacy – will guide the JLD's community, public policy and training efforts. The JLD will strive to change lives through literacy in the Denver metro area by providing tools for a better future. Additionally, the JLD will collaborate with Lieutenant Governor Joe Garcia, the Mile High United Way, and other community partners, to address this significant issue.
Founded in 1918, the Junior League of Denver historically has provided volunteers and resources to help meet the needs in the Denver metro community. Moving forward, the Junior League of Denver will:
- Partner with organizations in the Denver community to create the largest possible impact in the area of literacy;
- Advocate for legislation focused on literacy;
- Provide our members with the necessary training to promote and teach literacy with organizations of their choice.
